The act of putting thoughts and images that swim around in your head in concrete form (like a diary or journal) has proven benefits for your health, both physical and emotional. We can go as far as to say that journaling can transform your life path, because for many people, that’s true. Do you want to improve your mental health, boost your creativity and become a better person? Then keep reading.

Mental Health & Writing a Journal

If your idea of writing a journal recalls a pre-teen diary that locks with a tiny key, get rid of that notion. While it is often something you use to pour out your feelings and thoughts, just like you talked with your best friend in high school about that awful boy or girl (that you secretly like), it’s more than that. A journal is also about expressing yourself in a way that’s cathartic for your soul and essential for your mind.

Worries, doubts, challenges and problems in your life can make you stressed. Writing a journal helps release all this negative, soul-eating anxiety. What’s more, writing down a problem or challenge is the first step to solving it. Being able to turn an abstract problem into a tangible thing on paper makes it much easier to solve.

Apart from getting rid of stress and making you feel more in control of your life and where it’s going, a journal can boost your self-esteem. Studies have shown that writing a journal helps people deal with emotional events in their life, anything from from truly traumatic experiences to dealing with social anxiety and other types of stress. “Journaling” is a recognized therapy that can help with this.

Self-Confidence and Self-Improvement

A journal can be a place for a word or phrase you jot down at the end of each day that describes something you’re proud of, grateful for, or just happy to have in your life.

Keeping track of all the positive and pleasant things that happen in your life increases your self-confidence and makes you more eager to create and grow as a person. You’ll have the ability to inspire or influence the lives of those around you, especially if you use your newly-practiced writing skill sto share your thoughts on your website or blog.

How Journaling Can Improve Your Creativity & Memory

Keeping a journal on a daily basis can help you develop the habit of writing down those thoughts and facts that matter the most.

The fast-paced lives we lead often leave no time and space for us to pause and really think through or reflect on decisions, people and circumstances.

But a journal will help you really see these thoughts from a new perspective. You’ll find that it’s easier to brainstorm new ideas and solve problems you first saw as enormous. That’s because every time you run them through your head, they seem to grow, right?

Putting one idea down will help you come up with many more. Whether you’re an artist or an entrepreneur, whether you write or draw, a journal can help you harness this creativity and channel it to the right task.

Capture your next big idea or find the solution to a persistent problem through a journal. Whether it’s a data dump – where you pour your thoughts on paper without any intervention or censorship – or a brainstorming session – where no matter how insane or ridiculous, the ideas get written down – a journal can be your go-to tool for unleashing your creativity.

How active are you on social media? Chances are that you spend some time every single day writing posts and updating your profiles.

Even if you’re using social media just for fun, you’re telling people a lot about who you are. Everybody has access to websites like Facebook, Twitter and Google+ – friends, acquaintances, co-workers, your teachers and even potential employers. As a result, you have to be careful about everything that you upload.

Posts that contain errors, grammar mistakes and poorly-structured sentences are usually linked to sloppiness and laziness. This isn’t the impression you want to make on others. Editing and proofreading your social media posts doesn’t take a lot. At the same time, putting some effort in the process will definitely pay off in the long run.

Reasons Why You Need to Proofread Everything

There are several reasons why you need to proofread everything you’re about to post in the online realm. The most important ones include:

          – Build your credibility: if you want to be taken seriously, you should be a perfectionist when it comes to the content that you publish online. Whether you’d like to establish your reputation as a professional or simply reach a big number of people, proper spelling and grammar are essential.

          – Find attractive employment options: statistics show that more employers than ever are checking candidates on social media. According to CareerBuilder, 39 percent of employers looked for candidate profiles on social media in 2013. The figure has gone up to 52 percent in 2015.

          – Connect with the right people: by posting thoughtful, well-research and properly written posts, you’ll be attracting intelligent people to your profiles. Such networking opportunities will be really beneficial in the long run.

          – Create an online identity that people will like: your online identity is entirely based on the information that you publish. The posts will determine how people are going to perceive you. If you want to be taken seriously, you’ll need to proofread before posting the next status.

Tips for Effective Social Media Proofreading

If you’ve never proofed and edited your online content in the past, you may feel somewhat confused about getting started. A few simple tips will help you improve your posts. The best aspect is that you’ll need just a couple of minutes to make sure your content is error-free.

Read Your Posts

The first and simplest thing you can do to reduce the risk of errors is read the post you’re about to upload. Reading the text out loud is usually the best approach. It will enable you to identify errors and poor sentence structure that will otherwise go unnoticed.

Use the Right Proofing Tools

Professional writers, bloggers and people that post frequently on social media can rely on various tools to enhance the quality of their creation. A quality grammar and style checker is ideal for beginners and people that don’t have prior experience. When it comes to important posts (like the ones on your LinkedIn profile, for example), you may want to opt for a bit of professional assistance.

Check Your Content after You’ve Uploaded it

Reading the text just once before it goes online isn’t sufficient. After you post an update, you may notice a formatting problem or another issue that interferes with readability. This is why you should dedicate a few seconds to checking the posts after they go live and making sure that everything looks impeccable.

Slow down before you post your next tweet or Facebook status update. Even if it doesn’t discuss a serious topic, it should be error-free. Social media provide lots of opportunities and you can’t be negligent about building your online persona. Proofreading is an easy process and you don’t have to do a lot of work in order to make sure your posts are perfect.

INTRODUCTION:

Do you know the old song that actress and singer Doris Day made popular in the 1950s titled “Que Sera, Sera” (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)? The song is sung by a child who asks her mother about the future; she wants to know what she’ll be when she grows up. The mother’s answer is that no one knows, and whatever will be, will be – in other words, the child should just wait and see what happens. However, as life coach Sylviane Nuccio knows well, that’s not the way to get the future of your dreams. You need skills, you need a plan, and sometimes you need someone to give you a fresh perspective on everything. If that sounds like you, then keep reading for some information about achieving success and happiness in our recent interview with Sylviane Nuccio.

UV: Let’s start by getting a little bit of information about you. You’ve recently moved back to France, where you grew up, and in a recent blog post you talk about how strange it is to hear people speaking French all around you. Is there new French vocabulary that you’re having to learn that wasn’t in current use 15 years ago?

No, not at all. I think that if languages do change over time, it does take more than 15 to 20 years to really feel it. We can easily watch movies that are 70-80 years old and still understand every single word, don’t we?

What felt strange is to walk around in a place where the official used language is French as opposed to English. At times I still want to ask my way in English, for example, and I have to remind myself, OK, don’t forget to speak French here. It makes it even worse when I’m speaking with someone in the US on Skype and then I need to speak to someone in French right after. At times I’m speaking in English to them, and when I notice that they look at me funny, that’s when realize my mistake. This has happened to me three times already.

I also want to specify that I’m in France temporarily as well. I intend to go back to the US around June 2016. My goal is to spend 6 months there and 6 months here.

UV: You speak English and Spanish as well as French. How did you learn your second and third languages?

I studied English starting in my studio in Paris for a good couple of years before moving to New York, so I had some good basis by the time I moved. Then living in the US and my strong will to become totally fluent did the rest. There is no age to become totally fluent in a language. I spoke only French for the first 25 years of my life, yet I learned my two foreign languages as an adult.

I learned Spanish in the mid 1990’s doing some voluntary work with Hispanic people for 5 years in New York as well. Since most of them didn’t speak a word of English, either you’d quit or you’d learn the language they spoke, which I did. I have to say that I can learn languages rather easily, because I love languages.

A language is much more than just words and sentences. A language is a culture, a personality, a specific type of humor, and a way of life. A language is the personality of the people who speak it, and you can only get to know such people fully when you speak their language.

UV: Do you think that knowing more than one language is something that helps people achieve success, especially in today’s global marketplace?

Well, since you ask, I can tell you that being bi-lingual or multi-lingual is greatly underestimated in the US. Bilingual people are for the most part underpaid for their skills. So to answer your question, yes, I’m sure it can help you get a job because you are bilingual, like I did in the past, but at the same time you may be underpaid for it.

Being multi-lingual is not as valued as having a degree in this country, yet I think it should, because it takes work and skills to be able to speak fluently more than one language. And I like to emphasis on the word “fluent” because not being fluent is, indeed, not very valuable when it comes to languages.

UV: Please tell our readers about the role of overcoming subconscious beliefs when they are obstacles to success and happiness. How do you help people get over these mental blocks?

The subconscious mind is the engine that runs everything. Unfortunately, most people walking on the planet are totally unware of their subconscious mind, and most of all of their subconscious programming, so they are left wondering most of the time.

Every time something either pleasing or unpleasing happens to them they’re saying why me? Or why not me? This is because that’s the first question we ask ourselves when we don’t understand that what happens to us is largely depending on our subconscious programming and what we attract based on such programming.

However, we can’t feel guilty for what we didn’t know or what we still don’t know about, which is running the show, so we shouldn’t be blaming ourselves for the negative stuff that happens to us. But I try to help my clients understand that they are “responsible” for it at a subconscious level. It’s not that they are punished or unlucky, it’s that most of what they’ve been calling “circumstances,” “fate” or “luck” was created by their very subconscious beliefs.

When they get that, a huge step forward has been accomplished.

A very common example easy to understand is a woman that keeps attracting Mr. Wrong. No woman consciously wants to attract a bad man who disrespects, or abuses her, but a woman who does attract such man is usually someone who has been mistreated as a child or seen her mother been abused in some way. So the way her subconscious is programmed is that being mistreated by a man is “normal” and that’s what she’s going to keep getting (attracting according her subconscious programming) until she’s able to reprogram her subconscious mind. But until she does, she will most likely attract the same type of men in her life.

This is just one example, but it works the same for everything in life; job, money, relationships, friendships and so on.

So my main focus is to teach people how they can consciously reprogram their subconscious mind.

UV: When you’re not helping people reach their goals, you’re achieving your own goals as a writer and blogger. But what do you do when you’ve got a mental block that’s preventing you from finding the right vocabulary words to say what you want your readers to hear?

Well, because I’m applying my own medicine, meaning I’ve coached and keep on coaching myself in my own life, I know how to release resistance, and resistance to anything is probably the strongest thing that can block you.

Thus, I rarely if ever look for words when I write, because for one thing I know ahead of time that everything will be fine and flow just right, and it usually does. Actually, I write what we call “subconsciously” meaning that the words flow easily as long as I have an idea about what I want to write. A general idea is usually enough for me.

I do not ever write if I feel like I have a writer’s block. Instead I go for a walk, because walking is an excellent way to relieve any type of resistance. As I walk, writing ideas usually start coming.

I never take it for granted, but I often have great compliments about my writing, being inspiring, timely, needed, clear, easy to understand, and so on. That’s when I know that I’ve done it right.

Ultimate Vocabulary is today’s go-to source for improving vocabulary through enjoyable and science-driven activities and games. It’s unlike any other app because it makes learning fun. But let’s look more closely at the system to see why this software might not be the right choice for you.

You don’t want a fast way to improve vocabulary

Don’t believe anyone that tells you learning new vocabulary is time-consuming. With Ultimate Vocabulary you can learn new words in a few minutes alone.

The exercises have been developed according to proven science and reputable research to ensure you can build your vocabulary fast and without much hassle. Principles like repetition and active learning ensure you work less but get impressive results.

But if you’re an old-school learner and you prefer your hand-written lists and homemade flash cards, then you might not enjoy using Ultimate Vocabulary’s high-tech solutions.

You think you already know the right words

There are dozens of vocabulary improving apps out there. But which one helps you learn the right words? Probably only a handful.

Ultimate Vocabulary gives you access to word lists that are specifically tailored around particular disciplines, school grades, and tests to ensure you focus on the words that matter the most to your success right at this moment. The app offers 193 expert-designed word lists to choose from. Talk about choice!

Once you master your vocabulary lists you can take advantage of the dictionary-size word database to expand your lexicon even more.

However, if you believe that you’ve got the vocabulary you need to impress your boss or score high on that important exam, you probably won’t be motivated to use Ultimate Vocabulary.

You don’t enjoy guided learning sessions

Ultimate Vocabulary 2015 offers you step by step guidance so that you can improve your vocabulary through the most efficient path possible. Featuring video tutorials and guided learning, the app ensures you have the support and encouragement you need to build your vocabulary.

But if you’re a lone wolf and want to plan your own exercise series, then you might not enjoy the hands-on guidance and personalized feedback provided by Ultimate Vocabulary.

You don’t think learning should be fun

Ultimate Vocabulary’s signature feature is its addictive and fun games. You can learn new words the fun way so that you build the motivation to improve even further with each new game!

Play the fun vocabulary games on Ultimate Vocabulary for under an hour every week and you will be able to understand and correctly use new words without even realizing you’ve been practicing.

The best thing about the system’s interactive games is that you can personalize them with your own imported custom lists.

Still, if you think that the only way to learn is through repetitive review of the same lists over and over again, then Ultimate Vocabulary is probably not the system you’re looking for.

You’re not concerned with succeeding at work, school, or in your social sphere

Every game and every activity is measured through advanced technology integrated with Ultimate Vocabulary. This achieves two great things:

1) It gives you an overview of your learning progress and helps you identify your weaknesses.

2) It offers you personalized learning recommendations to catapult your vocabulary to new heights.

Tracking your success with Ultimate Vocabulary gives you the confidence to take your new vocabulary into the real world and use it immediately. However, if you don’t care about measuring your own progress and applying your skills to your own life, then you won’t enjoy using the progress tracking feature of Ultimate Vocabulary, either.

So there you have it. There’s absolutely no reason whatsoever why you should use Ultimate Vocabulary to improve your lexicon – unless you’ve finished reading this article and have changed your mind on any of the points above. If that’s the case, look into this award-winning system right away!

INTRODUCTION:

Ultimate Vocabulary helps people learn the words they need so that they can become better and more efficient readers, something that helps them succeed in their educational goals, and also contributes to their success in their chosen profession. For people who choose to make writing their career, vocabulary is even more important. To find out what a professional writer thinks about vocabulary improvement and the writer’s job, read this interview with Bamidele Onibalusi.

UV: You were born in Nigeria, where the official language is English, and that is the language you use to write for your blog and for your business. However, Nigeria is a large country with a long history, and there are over 500 other languages spoken there, including Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo. What other language(s) do you speak?

Thank you. Yes, Nigeria indeed has a long history and hundreds of languages, with Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo being the major ones.

Besides English, I only speak the Yoruba language at the moment.

UV: Have you ever focused specifically on improving your own English vocabulary, or have you learned your skill through your many years of reading and writing?

Yes, I constantly work on improving my English vocabulary; I make intentional effort to improve my vocabulary by reading books from international authors, and I work on improving my use of the English language by reading books that teach the English language like The Elements of Style and following the recommendations in it.

Writing constantly has also been very instrumental in helping with improving my vocabulary and use of the English language; for example, when writing, I’m sometimes confused about what words to use or where to punctuate, so I use Google to find resources to help me.

Reading has also been very helpful, and I’ve learnt thousands of new words by reading; I always have a dictionary with me when reading, so I look for the meaning of new words, often more than once, when I come across them in a book I’m reading.

UV: Your website offers a lot of practical advice for new writers, including the importance of learning the rules of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. What are some of your suggestions for developing a better English vocabulary? How will a good vocabulary help a new writer stand out from all of the other people who are looking to make money by blogging and writing on line?

Here are my top suggestions for writers who want to improve their use of the English language:

1) Write a lot; practice makes perfect, and the more you write and use the new words and lessons you learn, the better you’ll be. If possible, write every day.

2) Read a lot; by reading a lot you can absorb the structure of the works you’re reading, notice patterns, learn lots of new words and even directly learn lessons that will make you a better writer.

3) Constantly study materials on how to improve your use of the English language; you can purchase books like The Elements of Style, On Writing by Stephen King, etc., use Google to research ways to be a better writer and regularly study top writing blogs and writing forums.

4) Actively solicit feedback; don’t frown at criticism of your work. Instead, ask people who are better writers than you for feedback and suggestions on how you can be better when it comes to writing in the English language.

UV: What is “guest blogging,” and why should writers do it?

Guest blogging is the act of writing for another blog, with the hope of getting traffic, backlink exposure, or building relationships.

Writers should guest blog because it serves as a testament to their writing prowess to others, especially potential clients; when you show potential clients your guest posts as samples of your work, especially if the guest post is published on a reputable blog, they see that other people find your work valuable enough to publish it on their site. This establishes credibility for you.

UV: Many of our readers are interested in making writing their career, but they often have concerns about whether or not they can simply quit their day jobs to start writing full time. Have you always been a professional writer? If not, how did you make the transition from working for someone else to running your own writing business?

I started freelance writing a few years ago, as a student; up to that point, I have never worked full-time under anybody. To date, thanks to income from my writing career, I don’t have the need to work under others.

I won’t recommend quitting your job to start writing until you are making money; there’s a lot involved. Even if you start making money early on, there’s what is called the “feast of famine cycle”; this means you’ll make a lot of money some months, and you will struggle to make ends meet at other months. Unless you’ve experienced this yourself, and you’ve taken measures to combat it, it can be a very harsh reality to face if you suddenly quit your job to be a freelance writer.

I’ll recommend starting freelance writing part-time; build up your writing income until you are sure that the only thing preventing you from earning more is lack of time. This way, quitting your job will ensure you have a lot of available time, thereby making it easy to thrive once you become a freelance writer.

I wrote about this in more details on my blog, for people who are contemplating quitting their jobs to be a freelance writer.

As if real life relationships weren’t hard enough to decipher, we now need to maintain and nurture digital relationships too.

The good news is that digital relationships with your customers and potential clients are quite straightforward – there’s no reading between the lines, no giving the silent treatment.

In fact, you can maintain and advance your blogger relationships fairly easily.

Acknowledge Them

Saying “thank you” is a long-lasting way to express your gratitude to someone who follows and engages with your blog often. You can do even more than a simple thank you through the phone or email, quickly and easily:

– Thank them through a Tweet or Facebook post with a link to what you regard to be their top post.

– Ask them to guest blog. This is an opportunity to directly expose them to your audience. The more similar your niches the easier it will be to find a topic you’re both comfortable with.

– Interview them and then turn that into a Blogger Insight. Don’t go for formal; it should be a mix and match of personal and business-oriented questions to give your readers a complete idea of who they really are.

Helping those bloggers that help you is the first step towards building sustainable, long-term online relationships.

Show Digital Love

As with every human interaction, relationships between bloggers and businesses is based on one rule: they should both work towards a mutually beneficial interaction.

The practice you’re looking for here is reciprocation.

Check your fellow blogger’s site, blog, and social media accounts. Engage with them there, and then let your own network know what your opinion of them is. By helping them grow their community they will do the same for you. The good thing about reciprocation is that it’s ongoing.

Apart from sharing others’ content you can also directly engage with them through commenting, liking, and reposting their posts and tweets online.

Think Quality Over Quantity

To maintain a beneficial relationship with a fellow blogger it’s important that you both share one opinion. You both need to believe that blog post quality supersedes blog posting frequency.

Publishing blog posts every other day may be too much, and it definitely will be too much if the things you say are simply derivative posts without true value to your readers. Instead, opt for weekly or biweekly blog posts that are high quality and offer great value to readers.

Grammar, Spelling and Syntax

It’s our duty to also remind you that your grammar should be flawless.

It’s only human to make a couple of grammatical mistakes or have a misspelling slip away. But as a professional blogger, you need to be superhuman in this area. Double-check your work before you publish it to ensure your followers and readers are not put off by your seeming lack of language competence.

Your readers might not care about typos, but your fellow bloggers will see them as a reason to not engage in a professional online relationship with you. So go the extra mile to diligently proofread your work.

Working on your digital relationships is a priority you should never overlook.

Online relationships are an important aspect of digital marketing for beginners and expert bloggers alike.

Dedicate time and effort to developing and maintaining these relationships, and make use of the right tools and resources to create mutually beneficial relationships with others.

It will ultimately pay off in many ways, because you will increase your online community and improve how they engage with you. What’s more, you will be able to expand your reach to new markets and demographics that your new connections make possible.

How would you feel if you found out there’s a way to improve your typing skills at the same time you’re practicing your English? Sounds pretty great, right?

School assignments and hefty schedules, extracurricular activities, and even your social responsibilities can overwhelm you. That’s why it’s important to come up with effective and time-efficient study methods, like improving two skills in a single practice, or leveraging existing knowledge when you learn a new skill.

For instance, if you want to learn Italian, your proficiency and knowledge of Spanish will give you a head start.Since both languages belong to the same language family of Indo-European languages, there are many similarities in vocabulary, spelling, pronunciation, and grammar, such as their use of the gerund.

With the thought of multitasking in mind, why not use a computer during your your next English practice session? If you’re working on new vocabulary, find a vocabulary game you can play online. If you’re working on your spelling, there are several spelling activities you can use to practice for free and at the same time hone your typing speed and accuracy.

The best thing about this plan is that you don’t really need to worry about typing correctly or quickly when you practice your English skills. All you need to do is focus on the activity at hand and the aspects of the English language you’re concentrating on, and at the sametime – without any extra effort – your typing skills will improve, too!

Next time you need to work on your mastery of English as a whole why not do one of the following?

1) Publish a blog post using some of the new words you’ve learned recently.

2) Write a short essay or a few paragraphs about something you care about or are interested in.

3) Be active on several social media platforms on topics you want to share your opinion on.

4) Help others by providing answers to their questions. You can do this on Yahoo Answers, Wiki Answers, and even Twitter.

In fact, Twitter will help you hone your vocabulary quickly, since you will be expected to form your remarks in 140 characters or less – and that will help you practice finding exactly the right words!

* Find online photos you like and share them with your friends. Even better, upload some of your own photos and share with those instead. The catch is to create attention-grabbing and funny captions, another great way to use your newly-expanded vocabulary.

These are just a few of the activities you can use to improve your English skills and improve your typing performance at the same time, without feeling like you’ve put too much of an effort into it.

What’s your favorite study hack that lets you study English while simultaneously benefiting in other ways?

Does the word “essay” send cold shivers down your spine?

You’re not alone.

Many students find essay writing a demanding, even stressful project. They feel insecure about their writing skills and arguments, they worry about spelling mistakes and word choice, and they stress out over the topic they’ve chosen.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

Essay writing can be an enjoyable, constructive experience. Here’s how.

Create an Outline

Many students make the mistake of starting to write straight away, with no direction, no main argument, nothing.

Even thought it might seem to be the easiest way to start, it wastes time in the end. More often than not this method results in a poorly structured essay that lacks coherence and value.

Instead, you need to create an outline with an introduction, main body, and conclusion. For each section write a brief note on the main idea to be discussed. Think of arguments and counterarguments, draw on your experience and what you’ve studied and learned, and create an outline that will make it super easy for you to write your essay.

Don’t look at your watch. Leave ample time for your outline as it will make all the following steps much easier for you! So, if you have two hours to write a 1,500 words essay, make sure you devote at least 15 minutes to your outline.

Highlight and Understand Your Main Idea

This is part of the previous step, but for emphasis we’ve put it out here on its own. It is crucial that you understand your main idea. Your essay shouldn’t touch upon many things; it should be an in-depth attempt to analyze or present a single idea.

Discover your argument, refine it, and make sure you focus on it and only it throughout your essay.

Don’t Over-think – Start Writing!

Now that you’ve got your main idea distilled and your outline by your side you should be fearless and eager to start.

Start writing, then!

Don’t over-think what you’ve already done, just use your outline as your guide and start expanding on your notes. You’ll be surprised at how easily ideas come to you, word after word flowing from your brain. Make sure to offer examples when they are appropriate, especially when your idea is complex or difficult to understand.

Never assume your reader knows what you’re thinking. On the other hand, don’t put in unnecessary details with information that is common knowledge. Think quality, not quantity.

Edit Your Draft

Take a deep breath, stretch your shoulders, and delve into your first draft.

Read the whole thing and edit sentences that don’t make sense. Delete repetitive phrases, add more content when an idea needs more expansion to be understood.

Read It Again

Read once more to check for flow, coherence, and argument logic. Make the necessary changes and additions where there are gaps in your thinking and rationale, explain bits and pieces that are obscure, and make sure you link each idea to the next in a logical, straightforward manner.

Proofread It

It’s time to polish your essay. Read once more and this time look for spelling mistakes, word choice, syntax, and grammar mistakes. Fix those.

Now relax, you’re done.

Submit and Feel Proud

Now submit your essay and feel proud that you’ve successfully gone through the process and got out in one piece. See, it wasn’t that hard!

Are blogging and social media an integral part of your marketing practices? If not, they should be. Blogging is a vital component of your online client relationship building and retention. That’s why you ought to give it the time and effort it deserves to help grow your business and reach new audiences.

For blogging to work for your business, you need to put some effort into it. There are certain practices you shouldn’t ignore if you want your blog to become an overnight sensation.

About Us page

A quick Internet search will help you realize how important the About page of your blog is. It’s the most visited page on blog sites, because visitors want to know who’s behind these words. They want to know what you believe in, what you think about different topics, and what your overall mindset might be.

For some blogs, depending on what the blog is about, there’s often another page that gets at least as many views: one that provides the details related to the business. For instance, a photographer’s site will have the gallery or portfolio pages getting the most views; a technical blog site will often get the most clicks through to its FAQ page.

Put some thought into how you structure and enrich your About page. Set the tone for your blog, tell people who you are, give them a reason to stick around and read more, and then give them the final reassuring pat on the shoulder by providing testimonials and other forms of proof about what you’re claiming to be and excel at.

Even if it’s a business blog it should get personal. The use of narratives is not an approach exclusively used for personal blogs. Share a story and people will pay attention. They will empathize.

Keep it short and sweet

Resist the temptation to cram your sidebar with unnecessary pages.

Focus on a couple of things besides your frequent new blog post. It should be kept clean, minimal and only with what really matters. Don’t repeat things people can find on your official business site.

Don’t create junk keyword posts for the sake of ranking

Your blog should offer real value to your visitors. Give them insights, highlights, and top-of-the-line information that’s also keyword-rich.

There’s no reason to create meaningless posts for the sake of SEO. If you offer good, quality content, your content will eventually become popular and rank well.

People get frustrated when businesses get obsessed with SEO and offer nothing but information-light content stuffed with keywords. Stand out by offering relevant, informative content your visitors will benefit from and will want to share with others. This way your online community will expand, and the ways they engage with your business will improve.

Proofread

There’s no bigger turn-off than bad grammar. People who don’t pay attention to grammar mistakes are seen as careless, or not well educated. In both of these cases you’re not being a good advertisement for your business or yourself. Grammar matters, and even if you’ve got a more casual approach to your online content, make sure it’s free of mistakes in language or spelling.

A business blog reflects the company it represents, and so the language used does affect public opinion about the company. It would be a shame to lose your hard-earned authority status due to an easily-fixed grammatical mistake or misspelling. Proofread your content diligently and always double-check your posts before publication to avoid embarrassing situations.
